Open Water Students~
As a Meridian Divers Open Water student, there are a few things you should
know before you arrive for class. Please read your Open Water Manual
BEFORE your first class session, and complete
the Knowledge Reviews for each chapter. Read and sign the medical
form and liability release. If you sign yes to any of the
medical questions, a clearance from your physician may be required before
you can actually scuba dive. Call your instructor if you have questions
or concerns about the class.
Being equipped with a mask, snorkel, fins, and a weight system and costs
on this equipment vary between $150-$300. Sometimes old or borrowed gear
is not suitable for use as scuba equipment and sometimes that discount
store stuff looks the same as what the dive stores sell. But, you dont
really understand the difference until your mask floods or your fins hurt
your feet. Scuba gear must be correctly and personally fitted in order
to minmize problems later. Also, gear problems can stop the class cold.
If you need gear, or wish to update what you have, our professionally
trained staff can assist you with proper fit, etc. or simply offer good
advice. Keep in mind that as a student of Meridian Divers, you will receive
our "student discount" on any gear that you purchase!
